UFCW International
UFCW 951 is one of over 1,000 local unions belonging to the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) International Union. The UFCW International Union is a 501(c)(5) nonprofit organization made up of 1.3 million hard-working men and women in the U.S. and Canada.
Headquartered in Washington D.C., the International was formed in 1978 with the merger of the Retail Clerks and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America. Mergers with other unions along with aggressive organizing campaigns, have made UFCW one of the largest AFL-CIO-affiliated unions. Members of the UFCW work in grocery and retail stores, pharmacies, health care and manufacturing facilities, food processing and meat packing industries and more. UFCW members are on the front lines working hard to feed, serve and strengthen the neighborhoods and communities we call home.
UFCW International strives to raise the standards in the industries we represent. On average, UFCW members earn better wages and benefits than non-union workers, are more likely to have jobs that provide health insurance, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave, overtime and scheduling protections and more rights on the job than non-union workers.
